The ProMonitors are a masterpiece of engineering and design virtuosity. They are beautifully sculptured, ultra-compact, magnetically shielded main or rear channel full-range systems. The cabinets are molded of a De?nitive-developed high-density, mineral-?lled, non-resonant polymer material called PolyStoneTM. Housed in the totally inert enclosures are a cast-basket 51/4" bass/midrange driver and a 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter (the same basic high-end drivers used in our top-of-the-line bipolar SuperTowers), perfectly blended together with a complex Linkwitz-Riley crossover network. The rear and sides of the enclosures are actually one continuous compound curve which has very speci?c performance bene?ts in addition to its obvious styling attributes. This NROCTM (Non Resonance Optimization CurveTM) is precisely con?gured, in combination with a non-parallel to and bottom, to minimize both internal re?ections and cabinet-wall resonances to achieve purer sound and greater clarity.

solid sound. tight & clean, not harsh, not fluid either:
the build of the Promonitor 100 (Mk II) is good except for the grill fabric, which is made of a substantially lesser quality than that found in the first generation of these in the mid/late 90's. this new grill will tear upon the first traumatic impact. I wish this PM100 cabinet comes w/ the old black gloss like when it originally came out(seems as though the older model is heavier), and that the leg plate is less woobly on its pivot. The sound as usual is tight and relatively balanced, although it does not... more info
Great speakers! AMAZING at $99 pair shipped.... amazing:
These were a big move for me - a change of speaker brand after 20 years. But I've wanted some of the Def Tech ProMonitor/Cinema series for several years. The 800s are three times the money, and the tech at Def Tech said he actually thought the 100s are better speakers. They are great. I bought three pair to serve as my main home theater. And I'm getting ready to order at least one more pair, probably two, for other parts of the house. These are great. I'm completing my brand change across the board.more info
Audiophile quality at a bargain basement price:
Natural sounding, transparent sound. Very high quality drivers in an attractive enclosure that is easily wall mounted. What more could you want. And for $99. these speakers are a steal. Sound better than many speakers at $300 per pair. Be aware that they are lacking in base - that's what you lose with the small size enclosure, but that is easily remedied by adding a relatively inexpensive subwoofer. When my computer speakers with sub died of old age, I wired 2 computers, an old VCR I use as a video tuner... more info
Great sound, excellent value for money:
I purchased a pair of Promonitor 100 MK2s last year, but never hooked them up because of the layout of my place. I recently rearranged some furniture and decided to break these out. And I'm sure glad I did. These speakers are VERY clear, the highs are very audible and out there, the overall sound is CRISP. There's not too much bass coming out of these speakers but if you crank it, you can get satisfactory bass. I paired it with a Definitive Tech subwoofer and now it's perfect. My music sounds much better... more info
